On June 7, in the city of Kaniv on Taras’s Hill, an awards ceremony was held during the International Ukrainian ID Forum to present the winners of the annual Ukrainian ID Awards prize. Awards were presented to the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation, Kateryna Handziuk and Illya Bondarenko.

Ukrainian ID Awards honors outstanding achievements and practices in the name of prosperity and humanization of mankind, with the aim of stimulating the responsible development of society. Our organizational committee continues to award those who have made a significant contribution to the development of  society, but who until now have not been singled out in Ukraine or abroad.’ – said Natalia Zabolotna, President of the International Economic Humanitarian Forum Ukrainian ID.

The Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation received the award for considerable contribution to the development of society, for its work to promote in Ukrainian society the values of responsibility, cooperation and professionalism, and for its development and implementation of youth programs. The award was presented to Patricia Shmorhun-Hawrylyshyn, daughter of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn and co-founder of the Foundation.

A while back, Bohdan Hawrylyshyn together with nine honorable authors, including Myroslav Popovytch, Libomyr Huzar, Ivan Dziuba, and Volodymyr Horbulin, created the “Ukrainian Charter of the Free Person” based on the values of humanity. In 2014, Hawrylyshyn offered to Ukraine and to the world the Declaration of Human Responsibilities. Hawrylyshyn is also well known as one of the “fathers” of the famous World Economic Forum (Davos, Switzerland) which, when founded in 1971, bore the modest name “the European Management Forum”. The founders and partners of the International Economic Humanitarian Forum Ukrainian ID have an ambitious goal to transform an event in Kaniv into “Ukrainian Davos”.

This year, the participants of Ukrainian ID were more than 300 other opinion leaders, politicians, diplomats and public activists.

During the Ukrainian ID Forum, Patricia Shmorhun-Hawrylyshyn spoke at a the discussion panel Education ID about transformative possibilities in education in Ukraine.

Modern education in Ukraine requires new, professional approaches and the transformation of the system. An important part of the system is its commitment to forming new values and instilling an understanding of personal responsibility in the young generation for their life, successful development of the country, and the environment. A well-balanced discussion about rights and human responsibility must become integral to the foundational process, – said Patricia Shmorhun-Hawrylyshyn, co-founder of the Pechersk International School and of the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation.
