On 21 May, the presentation of ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation was held in Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Oleksandr Yarema, Chairman of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation Olena Bekreniova and National Coordinator of ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program Victoriia Klymchuk welcomed participants.
Oleksandr Yarema emphasised the importance of implementation of regional programs for youth, especially those that help to obtain modern knowledge and skills that will contribute to qualitative changes in Ukraine. Relevant is the fact that the program of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation fully meets the main priority of Ministry of Youth and Sports for this year, which consists in increasing the participation of young people in the decision-making process at various levels: from community to the national level.
Impressed by the fact that the focus of ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program is aimed at the regional dimension and that initiatives of local development support is planned. For us it is also important that no matter which region and size of location it is possible to create a system of interaction between authorities, civil society, philanthropic organizations, businesses, and in fact, to build this system interaction of local development. ‘It is therefore very valuable that this program is not just about training but also about local initiatives support’, Oleksandr Yarema underlined.
Olena Bekreniova and Victoriia Klymchuk presented the updated ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program. It should be highlighted that this year not only the selection of teams, which will go to six European countries to study the European experience of effective management will be held, as it has been happening since 2012. The programme provides a modular system of study in local schools in six cities of Ukraine (Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Poltava and Zaporizhia), as well as providing mini-grants for implementation of the most promising regional projects.
Young people between the ages of 20 to 35 years old, who are activists from NGOs, government officials, current deputies of the municipal, district and regional councils and representatives of social business are potential participants. These are young people who see their future in Ukraine and wish to improve its condition. They have some knowledge about the world and speak foreign languages. They are professional, ethical, play active part in public or political life and are able to work in a team.
The involvement of young regional leaders in ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program will allow them to acquire new knowledge and to organize them for practical application within their competence, to obtain financial support at the start of the project and direct access to the international European experience. The program will help to establish contacts with activists from other regions of Ukraine, to expand horizons and to build a wide network of business contacts. For today participants of ‘Young Generation Will Change Ukraine’ program of previous years established the association which consists of more than 500 young people who work in the Verkhovna Rada, ministries, city councils and administrations, manage grand-scale social projects or develope own business.
